not in your league but circa 73 I got what was considered the holy grail, a pucker green snorkel hood fish tail parka new in the canvas material not them later Bananarama! shiney anoraky material,jobs,, and also a few months later a pair of 11 hole ox blood doc martins, yellow stitching and laces fck in loved em and all because me mam n Dad split up I stayed with me Dad, sweeteners I think the word is,,

sounds like a proper issued/indeed unissued N3B early would have black with white or yellow tags with a quilted wool wadding for the liner later had the orange lining stuffed with polyester which you showed by wearing the coat in reverse if you got lost or wanted to be shot

each was made my different contractors Alpha industries Schott kravin park clothes superba fashions , green briar industries etc. some contractors were better than others some ended up in prison for short changing the US tax payer with sub standard rubbish...

used mainly by the guys on the steam cannon on the air craft carriers or members of flight crew who were not directly involved in flying the plane
those in the driving seat needed a less bulky jacket
N3B had snorkel
N2B had split hood with zip from peak to base of neck
Millets made copies of the N3B in blue green and maroon for schoolkids of the 70s

if yours had been used much it would have had stencils on it, usually something pertinent to the owner or the service he was linked with
or reflective tape sewed on the back in the shape of the owners initials and down the storm flap. so you could be seen on the deck of the boat in the dark.

real old ones tend to turn from green to purple and brown due to the action of UV light on the green dye, the variation depends on the cotton nylon mix.

here is a manky one for £50 note reflective tape additions. this has seen much service

My pal in Winnipeg knows of a huge Mopar only yard about an hours drive from his place. He says it takes 2 days to see it all!!

Im thinking of leaving them 'used' as you say Dunc. Believe it or not, I bought them to use on my old Nautilus Smith machine. I was getting sick of moving plates round all the time from the bar to the pec dec etc and why buy new when this nice 'vintage' stuff is kicking around

I collect guitars and love finding rare and unusual ones. Have been playing since 1983 and been in lots of bands over the years. I've owned over 60 guitars and am down to a skeleton number of 16 at the moment. Currently have a couple of rare Gibson Explorers, Flying Vs, Les Pauls, some rare 80s Charvels and some old Telecasters.

This is my favorite chuck around, a Gibson Explorer 76 Reissue.



And I got given this for my 40th, signed by Mike Rutherford, Kenny Jones (Small Faces/Faces/Who) and Bob Geldoff.
Changed the pick guard and pickups since that was taken.
