Monteverdi sure made some beautiful cars. Does anyone know if he did any upgrades to that Challenger?

No no no no no, not the same guy/people, this Monteverdi is a very afluent guy from Good London stock i believe.... that has or had a fantastic muscle car collection i think mostly mopar although he certainly has 50,s -60,s racing Ferraris to, our very own Martin Saville from RPM has deep connections to him and has looked after his vehicles and sourced them for this Monteverdi,, Martin

Thanks for the heads up. Did think it was odd that Peter Monteverdi was into Mopar, though he did use Mopar engines in his cars.

Yes he did, missed the boat on buying one of those, a mate spotted one for sale a 375 10k ffs and told me a week later, needless to say mate or no mate he took a ride in the boot of my car,,

Slightly different spelling Monteverde versus Monteverdi. The Monteverdi to have was the Hai with the rear mounted 426 Hemi engine. I believe they only built three of them so highly collectible. The Monteverde collection is still going strong,we occasionally sell a car, usually to replace it with something rarer or more desirable.

Thanks for the correction. Yes, the Hai was a stunner. The Monteverdi High Speed also had the Chrysler 440, as did the Safari.

Monteverdi Hai fitted with the 426 Hemi. They managed to fit air conditioning, something Chrysler never did from the factory. I’m not sure I would like all that lot whirling round about six inches from my head hidden under a flimsy engine cover ! I did read a roadtest where the driver reckoned the noise inside the cockpit was like being in a tumble drier. Quite a machine though.

What is the gearbox and rear axle on that ?

Transaxle ? Or a Dana 60/727 belt thing

Always love a T/A. Great that it is staying in the UK too. I remember the previous T/A that was in the collection, that came to the Euronats with an AAR. It was B5 blue from memory.

That was a nice car, very low mileage, highly optioned, broadcast sheets and matching numbers. Classic and Sportscar did a feature on it along with the AAR. Both cars ended up going to Tim Wellborns museum / collection in the States.

Thats the ones, I remember the article too. Probably got the photos somewhere, but prints as it was that long ago, before digital.
