I own a Perodua Kenari at the moment 👍

And rather embarrassingly the only one I haven’t owned is the Gwiz.

I remember seeing the concept at Goodwood FOS many years ago in a sort of chrome amber/yellow, it looked pretty stunning. Then the production jobbie was released and it looked like a bloomin taxi by comparison. Biggest disappointment ever.

Funnily enough, I noticed the numbers when looking at the "how many left" website the other day (looking at the latest figures for Australian Chrysler cars).

Had a bit of a number crunch tonight ("back of a fag packet" stuff). The PT Cruiser started to appear around 17 years ago on the DVLA's list in 2001, peaking around 10 years ago (around 2009). I make it roughly 22,450 cars at the peak, with around 8,110 left currently. That's 36% (roughly) of all of them, after only 10 years from peak. What will it be after 20 years?

Not my favorite car to be honest, but they are disappearing fast. I'd give it five years before it becomes one of those cars that you recall you could buy for next-to-nothing but now you can't seem to find. £600 - £700 "part exchange" on eBay right now. Less for "spares". I wasn't here for when the Aussie Valiants sold for pennies, but this does strike me as the low point (value wise) for this car.

Mind you, I came across a brochure advert on eBay for a Simca 1100 Van - a vehicle I doubt exists in the flesh now. I guess not everything is meant to be wanted. (I've just checked the "how many left" website, and it turns out the vans lasted longer than I gave them credit for. The last one dropped off the records in 2012! Just goes to show how things stick around!)
