We did leave a bit earlier than planned tho, after the (not so) 'Lucky Devil' 'vette grazed the wall during his burnout around 4pm, and after 50 mins of wall and track repairs we gave up waiting and made an early exit 
Before that tho, it was great to be there to see our old friend Nigel Payne's son Jordan's first qualifying runs in their 'Sticky Situation' 'vette. At 17, Jordan is fresh out of winning junior dragster for the last few years, and straight into Nigel's 'vette that he raced a few years ago himself. First qualifying run was 7.868 @ 176 and his second a few hours later was 7.867 @ 174! That's in de-tuned spec - they should be in the 7.3's by the Main Event when they plan to go back to twin carbs
Elsewhere, there were the usual Pod distractions and delays... we saw 3 fuel funny car runs and what felt like about a dozen jet car runs...
A great day out with old mates but I think I'll stick to the Nats / Hot Rod Drags / Dragstalgia meets
