John Dodge

Post by Super Sloth »

Not sure how many of you are aware, but today marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Dodge Brothers co-founder John Dodge.

We should all of us hope be so lucky as to leave such a great and lasting legacy that he did.

on the last day in Detroit we were driving down Woodward and we passed Woodlawn Cemetery. I mentioned to my travelling companions that I had read about it but apart from the Dodge brothers I couldn’t remember whom else was laid to rest in there, on return to blighty I did some homework …
“Woodlawn Cemetery is the final resting place for many industry titans such John and Horace Dodge, Edsel Ford, Earl and George Holley, and many others including Renaldo Benson (Four Tops), Albert Cobo (Mayor of Detroit), Edward Patten (Gladys Knight & The Pips), Lawrence Payton (Four Tops), David Ruffin (The Temptations), Levi Stubbs (Four Tops), George W. Trendle (Creator of The Lone Ranger), Ronald White (The Miracles), Rosa Parks (Civil Rights Icon), and more recently Aretha Franklin (The Queen of Soul)”
… looks like the Dodge brothers are in good company
