Model Chargers and some UK mopar history

Post by morgan »

So here's a bit of fun.

My boy is 11 and has been collecting Chargers (like matchbox toys) for quite a while now - he has about 35 of them. He keeps them separate from the other hundreds of toy cars he has and we've been promising him for ages that when we redecorated his room he could have a shelf for them or something. Anyhow, I redecorated his room. Route66 wallpaper - which when you are 11 I am informed is awesome (pic).

So - had an interesting idea for a display shelf for him thanks to a friend. I'll post some more pics, but pic1 is a close up of a few cars.

THE QUESTION - "What piece of UK mopar history has lent itself to this little display ?" Can anyone tell from this little snippet of a pic? I'll post another pic soon from a little further out if nobody gets it.

(Twins and Gav I think know the answer. So they are disqualified ! Sorry chaps... :) )

Are the shelves mounted on a boot lid?

Found it a couple of years ago in Portobello rd market of all places.
Its a bit fiddly to put up, its lots of individual images; 64 rectangles of wallpaper printed in different designs - so you make the mosaic how you want it. Some of the examples were very 'patchwork' with diagonals and overlap/layering - but as I lack imagination I went for 'grid' :)
