torque boxes
hi, how much hp would a good chassis take before it need`s beefing up, is there a common figure? the cars a charger 500,

More important is to use chassis connectors if you use slicks.
Personally I would fit torque boxes at the very least on a completely stock car. Actually I would probably fit chassis connectors too.
Because the stiffer the chassis - the better the car feels to drive and the fewer rattles it has. No matter what the power level.

They were extra bits of plating added to each end of the sills "boxing" the area where the subframe attaches. Most hemi cars and convertibles got them as standard. So did a lot (if not all?) 440 cars.

Hi guy`s, thanks for the welcome, a great article about the boxes and connectors, it had it all, i`ve seen some bolt in connectors, anybody had dealings with these? or anybody had them fitted already? thanks again

Steer well clear.

I welded mine from front to rear x-members, but stronger still is welding them through the floor too.
This just got a lot easier - John Passman (sp?) now makes contoured frame connectors http://www.uscartool.com/Eframeconn/index.html, which make welding them in along their entire length much easier as you don't have to cut up the floorpan anymore
