Hemi into an "A" Body - How hard can it be???
A lot of work going on behind the scenes.
First Engine Mock up - dropping the Motor in the hole - easy peasy......
The issue is getting all the "Other" stuff in, such as Exhausts, and, eerrrrr Brakes.... and of course some steering that turns!
.. Yes, the Angle Grinder will have to come out if I want to be able to get the Pass Side Rocker Box off for servicing......

Nope, No Gasser set up for me - this is a Nostalgia Superstock car - it has to run original Firewall in the original location, and it has to run inner fenders.....

Reminds me of a book we used to read to Jess when she was tiny…

Re: Hemi into an "A" Body - How hard can it be???
are you allowed to move it side to side? i.e a smidge more in the center if steering allows
plain manual column has next to nuffin much sticking out.. is that a column shift column?
It seems to involve a load of bits in the way that i'd guess won't be necessary
gotta 24:1 ratio ballnut n screw if you want manual steering that just doesn't steer..... much, 6 turns lock to lock, useless for anything other than straight line driving.

Thanks for the comments guys.
In reality the motor is not located in its final position - lots more checks need to be done in terms of Off-set and Header clearance around the Steering Box as a key indicator on how well things are going to pan out (or not........).
Then once that is confirmed the engine set back needs to be so it make Pinion Angle setting a little easier later on.

is it one of those classes where no inner fender or bulkhead 'cutting' is allowed but you are allowed to 'beat them' out of the way for clearance?

Re: Hemi into an "A" Body - How hard can it be???
Agree with you on the firewall Pete but I didn't think having no inner fenders was against the rules. I can think of at least one car in the class that doesn't have them.Pete wrote: Thu Oct 24, 24 9:46 pm Nope, No Gasser set up for me - this is a Nostalgia Superstock car - it has to run original Firewall in the original location, and it has to run inner fenders.....

Re: Hemi into an "A" Body - How hard can it be???
You make be correct, Adrian - I have been "challenged" by another Racer who did not think the set up I posted was compliant, but I have checked with the powers that be and it Is complaint; and explained to the person in question why it meets the rules correctly.
I guess I would still rather keep it like a "Real car" as much as possible and in reality the inner Fenders being in place is not a massive burden - it is a LOT harder to run a Big Wedge in an "A" Body than a Hemi due to Spark Plug location.
Having mocked the Engine and Trans up again to the required Degrees and off set, in fact there is not that much cutting required - as long as I use a Motorplate (which IS allowed!!).
I would have preferred to have fabricated Engine Mounts, but the Milodon Oil Pump fouls the "K" Frame location point.
