And another RHD Barracuda…
Roydon and I bought this one just over a year ago and it’s had to wait until now to get started on it. It’s the ex Floyd bros. ‘68 RHD car originally a slant 6 that they started converting to V8, it’s sat unfinished for 20 odd years. It has some rust in the usual places but nothing we can’t manage as we go. We’ll get it running and driving first and take it from there.

Re: And another RHD Barracuda…
So with that in mind I started by removing the bumper overriders and filling a set of wheels we had in stock…
Trans is all connected up and we found a suitable prop, need to make cooler lines. The V8 Radiator that came with the car isn’t going to work so I’ll order a new ally one, they are reasonably priced these days. We had a mini starter so that’s fitted as well. I wondered if a smaller oil filter might clear the steering box but there’s no chance. I will have to fit the godawful factory remote filter set up at least for now.

Re: And another RHD Barracuda…
That is nice RHD and has survived well so must have been in storage for most of it life.
The colour is right too
I am sure it will end up to be a great car and hope to see it soon, good luck

Needless to say, I’m looking forward to this build.

Having resigned ourselves to using the standard remote filter set up, it quickly became apparent that it wouldn’t fit with the later aluminium water pump, milling took place. This allowed us to use the pulleys and viscous fan we had to hand. Also found a Denso alternator so seemed rude not to do the conversion.

That’s ‘andy to have lying about!
You’re going to need a good scoop to clear that filter!

Looks like it belongs on a tractor but it will have to do for now, I’ll revisit it another day.

Re: And another RHD Barracuda…
Other than looking so damn weird, I guess the filter in that location doesn’t work as well? My RHD has the same filter location what are possible options for relocation, a full remote set up?
Re: And another RHD Barracuda…
It looks weird and it makes a mess when you change it basically. Yes a more normal style of remote set up with the filter in a more sensible solution. The issue is getting off the block, you need a much slimmer fitting than the normal type and then there’s the bulky fittings, there’s just no room especially to get a spanner in. It’s doable, but I want to get tubular headers in there as well and it would make sense to sort that first.

This is the expensive way of doing it…

reasonably low profile and you could angle it any which way
or cut off most of the filter head and tap it for fittings, pipe to a monster filter on the bulkhead

Nice one Dave I’ve not come across that before. Cut down and tapped for fittings it’s possible that could work, I’ll keep that in mind.

Re: And another RHD Barracuda…
The PO of my car relocated the battery to the boot, which left a decent space to put a remote filter there.
Looking at the Ford part you linked, I wonder if it would be possible to get an adapter machined up to screw on to the filter head end with the fittings then tapped into that, as an alternative to machining down the part and tapping into what’s left?

Re: And another RHD Barracuda…
Trans dapt make an adapter to go from the filter surface to hose. As ever it all depends if there’s enough room to do it that way.

Re: And another RHD Barracuda…
This is the adapter that was on it previously, with the filter mounted to the inner fender on lines.
I’ve still got several ends and adapters that we tried over the years, they all looked a bit of a dogs dinner really, running hose across the bay never looked right to me.
