No, Mike. I did have a console for it, but I sold it. I like the space!

The plate will be under the carpet and the shifter surround straight on top.

Been faffing around this evening with harness restraint fixing options, behind the rear seat. That's next on the list.

I found it a piece of cake, to be honest. I just helped the bloke carry it round to his spray booth and got a call a couple of weeks later to say it was like this. :thumbright: :D

All jokes aside, though, he did say it wasn’t easy, as he didn’t want to risk hanging it, as its fibreglass. He didn’t want to risk anything if it got dislodged, so he had to paint it flat. I think dust particles have been a nightmare for him.

Had a great outing at Nostalgia Nats, ran several PBs, new transmission and shifter were really great and got a lot more confidence in the car now. Thanks as ever to Pete and Blue for their help and advice!

Back home and readying for some more upgrades.

Being as it’s a sunny Sunday and no need to thrash, thought I’d do a nice simple job today and fit the Ducktail I got through Chris at Goodale American Speedshop. (Shameless plug, if you don’t use him, you should!)

It’s a really nicely finished piece, looks very factory. Deliberately went for the black “rubberised” type finish, to tie in with the vinyl roof.

Here’s what you get with the kit. What you don’t get, of course, are any instructions!

First job, trim off, mask up and plot in the correct stock measurements.

Second job, measure the actual piece and account for manufacturing tolerances, then remark the masking accordingly. I strongly suggest doing this, as I found two holes that were 1/8” out.

I also made sure to prefit the 4 end fastenings and measure the distance between centres. Glad I did that too, as the standard gap is 3”, but they turned out to be slightly longer and different at both ends.

Whilst the ducktail is secured at both ends of the trunk lid with two screws either side, the rest of it is clamped down with these brackets, which have a threaded type washer, which is used to clamp it to the spoiler. You thread the washer on, turn the brackets sideways, down the the hole in the base of the spoiler, then turn 90* and tighten the washer down. I left enough wiggle to be able to adjust the lateral fit a bit if needed. I wouldn’t do this, after I test fitted it, I found the brackets turned in their holes and I had to do it again. Just whack them down and make sure your holes are in the right place!

It’s a pain in the ‘aris to keep it exactly where it should be on fitting, irritatingly, as the main nuts are secured through access holes in the underside of the boot lid, I lost a couple of nuts into the boot lid, which is going to drive me nuts rattling about, until I can fish them out. #-o

Ended up propping the boot open and fastening the end screws first, to keep it all in place, which stops the brackets slipping. All good in the end, though. Just needs a wash now and it’s all done. 8-)
