My Shaker has definitely seen some action!
From the part number I think it’s from a 73’
455, guessing some kind of custom at some stage as it was absolutely buried in filler to make it completely smooth?
And it’s been Red at some point, typically Thunderbolt and Lighfoot !
But I’m going to use it as I’ve changed to a Edelbrock Inlet and a DP Holley so my Shaker and Air Cleaner will require modifications,

All part of the joys of old cars,

I have had dented stuff from summit before... pistons in my case... obviously fallen out of box and dropped on concrete floor...could have been dressed and used. But hey i paid for none dented pistons

on both occasions they just sent me a new one...
from an order of 6 pistons and a v8 ring set i ended up with 10 pistons and 3 full v8 sets of rings.... (2 of which were not the listed and ordered rings)

so home to mr cockup on their part but no bad feelings they sorted it all out

this was 10+ years ago but i found them to be really quite nice about it all .

Got the epoxy blocked and the shell is now in 2k
Primer it’s not laser show straight but way better than driver quality so that’s good enough for the girls I know !

Refurbished the column and the steering wheel
This week, how durable the wheel will be is anyone’s guess,
But it will do for the time being

Haha I thought it was a Thanet thing?
A fellow I worked with would say it all the time !

Ok so Summit sent me another tank which arrived in one piece!
Nice one summit !

Squared the right hand door /A and B posts , sill and got them in epoxy,

Just the left side to do now , and waiting on a wiper motor so I can test fit before finally welding the new cowl panel in place,
So the shell is pretty much completed now,
However it’s looking unlikely I’ll get the car in colour by October as I was hoping, so probably will have to wait till next spring now?
I’ve worked virtually every Friday and Saturday now for over a year,
So pretty tired now, I’ve 850 hours in it so far and still miles from completion!
But these things are a hobby and as such hours worked are irrelevant really,

At least it’s only your time & not a shops time, I’d hate to think of the bill 😋

Progress looks great from the photo updates

Al most done on the shell, the right side is in epoxy and just a bit more squaring on the left side
Once this side is in epoxy I’m going to take a break

I’m currently waiting for a new wiper motor to arrive, then once test fitted I can weld in the upper cowl panel and get it finally all in epoxy,

It’s unlikely now I’ll be in a position to paint the shell by October as I’d hoped, so will probably abort that and get the shell built up and look to do the final colour next spring,

Amazing work and dedication.

Why so long to get the colour on between October and next spring...is it weather related?

October was my penciled in month,
Simply because I thought I’d be ready to go by then,
And we normally have a half term week where were busy at work , then it’s quiet so an idea time to get it to my booth and colour it,
But looking at where I currently am it’s looking unlikely I’ll be ready by then so rather play Russian roulette with temperatures and weather I’ll just wait !

But I’ll see how September goes but I really could do with a break now, plus I’ve been called for jury duty starting early October so it’s getting to tight!

Plus leaving Epoxy/Urethane primer filler to completely settle is never a bad thing and as my garage is part of the house it never really gets properly cold and it’s completely dry,
I’ve stored primer shells for several years before applying colour coats, quite often with the XKE’s the owner would run out of money so the restoration would be mothballed !

My V12 4 speed E’ been sitting in my dehumidified container now since I painted it in early 2017!
It’s almost complete now apart from interior and glass
Still looks as good as the day it was coloured

Squared up the left door, sill and B post yesterday and today
Probably one more blocking session before the last primer coats,
