New small block heads

Post by Blue »

Not come across these before so I assume they are recent releases. Figures suggest they are much like a stock replacement Edelbrock head.

Steve Dulcich just dyno tested a set of these on the 340 he's built with his daughter for her 67 Dart.
It's on Richard Holdeners channel (but uses Dulcich's own dyno) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px-c72hTa5s
They produced ~70 hp over stock 360 heads with a mild cam etc. The 260cfm is about what a stock set of W2's flow IIRC, good flow. Obviously the W2's can easily make more with porting and I assume the AFR's would respond to porting too but with the stock pushrod location that is probably already pretty good! As he says they are more or less a replacement street head, they look pretty good, closed chamber too.
Nice to see that some new parts are actually still being made for Mopars!!

From a cost point of view if you need more flow you are better off going for Trick flows. At around 300 CFM they are currently the best flowing “bolt on” heads available although you do need custom pushrods due to the longer valves but they do retain the standard pushrod location. Unless you can port your own heads the cost is prohibitive these days. There is a fair bit of head choice for small block Mopars nowadays but things get very expensive very quickly if you are wanting to go beyond the Trick flows.
W8 heads are probably the last word in heads for an LA based small block, custom intake, custom headers, custom rocker gear and so it goes on, big power at an eye watering cost
