where do you get steel from? heads up.

Post by mygasser »

this isn't a for sale add but rather a heads up if you need any. :thumbright:
not sure where you all get steel from (any metals for that matter) but i just ordered an 8x4 sheet of 1mm zintec for floors etc from https://www.fhbrundle.co.uk/ and it was about half what i last paid to my local guy. i assume they buy tons to get it cheaper but whatever i thought i'd pass on the info. the sheet was £62.40 including delivery and vat (£42 +vat) so i thought it was very cheap. the 100x50x3mm (x7.5m) steel box for ashley's zephyr chassis will be £168 for 2 lengths again including delivery and vat.

Used to drive past a branch every day and just thought they did Industrial Girders or large RSJ's.

Good info there 👍

i often tell freinds about cheap(er) suppliers for this and that when i find them, they usually ask where they are. i reply 'pass, but they deliver at good prices'. these days it seems to be more common for local branches of larger companies to close as they move more towards internet sales and deliveries. the advantage for us the punter is less building rents/costs for them can help keep prices lower.
