Before fitting back my side windows I want to perk 'em up a bit. What's the best way to do this. There will be a few scratches IIRC, and I realise that removing them by polishing is not really feasible if you can catch your nail on them, but I'm sure I can improve them from where they are - grimey and a bit dim!
Maybe it's a simple as a normal glass polish, but any other suggestions? I'm aware there are glass polishing (buffing) kits available, are they really worth using or will they not make much of a difference over a 'conventional' polish.

I use jewellers rouge in a drop of light oil or water. It will get rid of light scratches and traffic film. I go to my local glazing co who usually let me have some free.

Thanks for replies, looks like I'll be saving myself ?30 on a Frost kit anyway!
Is there a good technique to apply the rouge? Can you use an electric buffer or a polishing pad?
I've heard of it but never come across the stuff - is it a liquid, a paste, or what? Latil, can you explain further - do you add a drop of oil to the rouge, mix it up etc????
also, if I can't get any from a glazing company, any idea if any shops sell it?
cheers!

My rouge comes as a powder,I then mix with a light oil to make a paste.I find it works better with oil but,for the windscreen unless you have the time to get the oil off ,use it mixed with water.
Work it on with a soft cloth in an overlapping circular motion, don't use too much at a time. You'll need to wash off to see how it's going and keep going until it's clean. I don't usually do more than wipe side and back glass clean with brake cleaner or cellulose thinners on a clean cloth when I've used oil. You'll know what oil on the windsrceen is like so best to use the water mix there.
If you've got a place that cuts glass while you wait near you they will probably have the stuff. If not try Ebay and the web. If you can't get it PM me your address and I'll get some posted to you.
