Someone knows someone who knows someone who can get their hands on "everything I need" except a 4 barrel hat (which I can apparently get cheapo off eBay) & the price is "about a ton" plus £20 &vat to get it "certified" for the insurance to be happy.
Motor isn't a Mopar, its the Olds, a 425 big block with an advertised 10.5:1 CR
It'll feel like its a 22 MPG car at that, and pay for itself in no time (weeks not months)
Anyone done anything similar care to comment?
If anyone's interested I'll post back how I get on with it.
Anyone run a V8 on LPG?

I used to be very good mates with a guy that ran a business converting cars and supplying the fuel. He converted his Aussie 318 to LPG. He said there would be no power loss with the conversion but guess what? It was a slug compared to mine.
Also hanging around his place most weekends I lost count of the number of cars coming back for "adjustments".
LPG? Not for me thanks. I would rather tell all my mates I was gay.

Best thing about gas is YOU CAN SWITCH IT OFF! I.E. use gas for economy and if you wanna boot it, flick of a switch and its back to petrol. Only problem is the timing has to be a compromise with anything but clever programmable ignitions.
I reckon average loss of 5-10% power on gas which does tend to mean you're heavier on the throttle which reduces the savings you make to 30%ish rather than the 50%ish i was expecting. Luckily i hasent taken off but be sure if it does Mr Brown will wind up the tax on gas too!!

No-one will believe you...

If it's a choice between gas on the mopar or a 4 pot daily then do it.
Just make sure the instalation is good, gas will not tolerate any leaks as it freezes, well thats not entirely true, what happens is if there's a leak it freezes water vapour which will stop the car and can be nearly impossible to find as it melts so fast by the time the hood is popped it will start and run fine.
Timing can be a problem but once the system is all ok and you're happy with it you can run it pretty much all the time on gas, there's a guy up your way that uses it on a older ram pickup (owns a very small harley shop) he never uses petrol at all, he wants us to do a custom curved distributor for the gas when he gets round to it.
Go ahead mate as on a daily it makes perfect sense, you'll have no problems.
Problems appear when fitting the old style kits to newer fuel injection vehicles, these have a habit of exploding the filter box, the amount of rams i've seen with the airbox taped up is amazing
the intake gets so full of gas as the kit isn't designed for the application, throw in a bad set of leads which arc to the manifold or a little too much heat and kaboom

from my experience with it, on a big peugeot estate i once had, is that.....
driven normally.....
....
you lose power, about 20%,
and
you actually lose mpg cos the engine works harder to do what it normally does,
you are only saving on the cost of fuel, say half the price, with about a 15-20% loss in mpg, = about a 30p a ltr saving (based on a quick mental rythmnatic at midnight)
so yeah it's worth it, but... if you're looking for a cheap to run motor, then i think deisel is cheaper, and of course it can run on even cheaper things, i was chatting to Will about this the other day,
the diesel 4.2 patrol does about 25mpg, regardless of nissans claims, i know that the petrol 4.2 does about 16 at very best, 13-14 most of the time, so we'll give it benefit of the doubt, and say 15mpg,
cost of a proper conversion for a big 4x4 is around £12-1500 notes, the loss in mpg takes you down to say 12-14mpg, so the fuel really only works out about 30% cheaper, not much different to the equivelent mpg on a diesel, which of course could run on lidls premium 5star veggie for 29p a litre ! only kidding about the lidls bit but ya know what i'm getting at,
i think you'll only get anywhere near close to a similar mpg by driving like someone you'd normally shout at for being to slow !

But on a daily driven american V8 also bearing in mind the first part of the thread which went something like "it's either gas or a 4 pot eurobox" and the cheap cost of the carbed kit I'd say it's worth a go.
The guy I know with the USAF dodge pick up never runs his on petrol at all ever, it's got the 360 and from experience they aint good on fuel, I'd also say a power loss in one of them things wouldn't matter a monkeys
I'd also say with a little messing around with timing curves you'd get some of the power back
