Only have forward gears.

I hope someone has an idea of what might be wrong here!
I have just fitted an untested second hand 727 box. I cannot start the car in Park but it will start in neutral.
As soon as it starts the car tries to move forward. It moves forward in 1st, 2nd, Drive, Neutral, Reverse and park.

I am a bit lost on this one.

I would say the rods (linkages) need adjusting. Easy to adjust, but I dont think its that easy to get right. I think it is unlikely a new box willl work straight off with your linkages adjsted as they are to your previous box.

I have that (sometimes) on my 727. You can adjust the conector from the shift rod that conects to the lever that selects the gears in the box. Lok underneath on the drivers side and you can see the linkage (your manual should have pics) and you can adjust so that P (Park)is actually where it should be.

I don't think a simple badly adjusted linkage would do that. It would still hit neutral, reverse or park somewhere along the line.

Thanks for the response!
Got some advice from a fellow MMA member and it seems that the forward clutch is stuck on.
So it looks like the box will have to come back out for repair.
Never mind its all good fun innit.
