Dart beater update

Post by MilesnMiles »

well, i've just completed some Spring tuning jobs

Comlete TTI exhaust & 340 manifold plus one set up (Stage1) heads which Neill sourced me from FBO, 3 angle valve job, bowl blended and new everything. Still to fit is the custom curved dizzy and the jobs complete.
The exhaust fits really well although lying on my drive to fit it was a pain at times. Heads have ben fitted with .o27" head gasket (mopar Performace) as well. End result is: Car is a lot quicker and seems to be producing a noticable increase in torque. Wheels spin without trying too hard. Definately worth the effort!

Stupid dumb question....I have wondered for a while, and seeing the H pipe has reminded me...
How exactly does the H pipe work? Benefits, function etc? Does it equalise the two pipes, or what?
Sorry if that is an obvious question...

It is to gain more torque & power from the exhaust system

I think it balances the pressures and gives a better flow improving performance and economy(not sure about the economy side?)
I had headers and a Flowmaster system(h pipe) on my Ford 302 and it sounded outstanding for a small block! many said it was one of the best sounding cars they had ever heard.
would i need headers as well on the Duster? or just the h pipe exhaust to recreate the sound of my 302? i would love to get that sound again 8-) the Duster is loud but sounds diffrent.

The exhaust sounds great especialy when you hit the right rpms when accelerating. The H pipe is to help, balance, flow and reduce reasonance. These TTI pipes are not too mental in the noise department although my wife was looking for earphones at 50mph which is where max reasonance occurs. At 60+ you can even hear the stereo!
These changes have really helped in terms of the 'seat of the pants' feel. Not cheap, but rounds of the job. Now for the body/paintwork....
