Shock Recommendations

I've got an order going in with Summit for a few bits and pieces and am going to order some new Shocks while I'm there. I'd like to stiffen up the ride a little to help the handling and I want to lower the front once the new headers are on (also part of the order) so was going to get some adjustable ones. Anyone used any of these...

Is it worth shelling out more for some Konis....

I have the KYB gas-adjusts on the Road Runner and they are excellent...they fit well though by British standards they aren't stiff...nevertheless, the car handles pretty well and the ride is superb.

Go for it! :)
The pump don’t work coz the vandals took the handles.

I use KYB for street use, quite firm and a good price.

Don`t think drag shocks would be any good for street.
Shocks don`t allow for height adjustment, just damping ratio.

Adjust the torsion bars for ride height. Mind those speed bumps though :)

Thanks guys :)

I did know about the torsion bars, but I will need stiffer shocks once its down to stop it grounding out by bouncing like it does now. I used to have a VW Fastback that was so low it ground away the towing hook from under the car in the end

I doubt you'll be lowering it much with headers on, most hang down pretty low to clear the steering...

I've currently got some 70s style headman headers that hang down beneath the car that have stopped me lowering it.

Plan is to fit some of these shortie headers in thier place...

...which will allow the exhaust to be moved up flush with the bottom of the car. It's a custom system from the headers back so the front secion will need to be reworked, hopefully to include some of them electric header plugs too :D

I've read that most anyone in the US who has Konis is very happy indeed with them.

I just fitted a set of Edelbrocks , and they're excellent as well - from what I've read , general opinion seems to be that these are second best choice to the Konis.

Cool, I havn't seen those headers before, looks like you might be able to keep the pipes higher than the K frame which ain't normally possible.

Get some larger diameter front torsion bars and then drop the height down on the adjustment. Then you can go low and not get as much suspension movement on bumps. You will have to stiffen the rear springs a bit also to stop the car understeering but just adding a leaf and a rear anti-roll bar will do.
