Is it man enough...

Post by Anonymous »

As I've mentioned before I'm having a 360 engine built for the Duster which should push out around 370Hp a 904 tranny is also being rebuilt for me.

My question is, will my Axel handle the power?

I'm guessing I still have the Axel from the original slant 6 how can I tell? and if it is will It be man enough.

Also I'm looking into a limited slip diff to help me put the extra power down if anyone has any advice on this it would be very welcome :)

You want an 8.75 axle. Any of the three pinion types will do. Randys Ring and Pinion in the States will supply LSD units if you need a new one.

I have an 8 3/4 bare case but it's for a B body so would need shortening a little maybe.

Got a pair of Moser ends for the shortening deal

Also have a 741 diff case

Auburn centre is £340 from me plus a bearing kit

I'd do the 8 3/4 and the 741 together for £145

Probably not. But if you try it on a good track make sure you have your AA/RAC cover up to date. ;)

Take a pic of the rear of the centre section of the axle and post it here. We'll know what you've got then, and be able to advise accordingly. 8-)

It's an 8.25", quite a beefy rear end that one, If you need gears and a Sure grip, Dave Henry has what you need, look in the for sale section, gears are 3.91's ideal for street/strip. With the power level you're at I think it will be ideal.
