Front hub taper bearings

Just received a pair of front drums in excellent nick from Matt, along with the bearing assembly- thanks mate.
Whats the best procedure for setting the bearings please someone??
No-one will believe you...

You'll need the factory torque settings. Then back it off a bit. If my bodge memory serves me correctly. (Make sure you read it as lbs/ins not lbs/ft. Many a good bearing knackered through that mistake! :shock: )

Ta Kev, pretty much done it by feel as i've always done!
Bearings from Matt's Fury were smaller than my D100 so i've had to split the drums from the hubs- no posh cutter avail so screwed nuts onto studs and bashed 'em out, then put drum & wheel on and screwed the nuts on to draw them back into place- worked a treat!!
One surprise was left-hand threads on the left side studs!!
No-one will believe you...

All pre and up to 70 are LH on the LHS of the car....most replacement items are RH thread.

I thought LHT on drivers side was a 1970 model year only deal Pete?

No my '69 has lht on lhs

My Valiant had LHT on the passenger side. (RHD). It now has short RHT as some monkey in the past must have sheared them off.

Hubs are surplus now by the way if anyone wants em- call it ?10 plus post.
I'll stick a proper ad in 'For sale' soon, got a few other bits to sell too.
