Trans sump help

Post by Anonymous »

Oh dear. :?:
I have only driven the car up the back lane a few times no more than 10mph.
The last time it would not do anything in reverse, the gear was definately engaged.
Anyway, left it for ages and just been down the garage since 8am I have taken off the trans sump as the gasket was leaking, the cable bracket needed moving slightly to get to the trans cooler lines.
Having taken off the sump, I have found the oil to be nice and red, recently added, but there is a shiny silt in the very bottom.
I recently fitted a manual valve body as well.
Am I up the river with out a paddle?

If it's a new build box some silt is acceptable as the bands are bedding in. Has reverse worked since fitting the manual valve body? Have you fitted the longer gear lever? What shifter have you got? Sounds like an adjustment issue.

I have a manual valve body, cheater I think.
The shifter is a pro ratchet.
My dad seems to think it might just be the same.
Never drove the car before the valve body was fitted so I dont know.
Im going to clean it all up and put it back together.

Hopefully try it again tomorrow.

Could be the seal in the reverse apply piston the one that activates the rear band or it could be just adjusment of the rear band
