Charger vs Challenger Hubs?

Post by Anonymous »

Hi All

Do any of you know if the hubs and drums off a 70 Challenger would fit my 69 Charger? I need a set of new front hubs and drums for the front as someone has, at some stage in the past, decided to beat the c**p out of mine with a hammer. The size of my drums are 2.5" x 10". I kinda need the car up and running by next Tuesday (well actually Friday if possible) so if anyone has any ideas please let me know asap. Duncan has hubs from a 70 Challenger but not sure if these will fit?!?!

Ideally would like to upgrade to discs on the front but need something to tie me over in the meantime.

cheers

Mike

I think they will fit, but will stand to be corrected.

You said ignorance was a powerful tool.

I would fit them. Or at least try to....

I'm sure all 68-74 Chargers share the same suspension and brake parts as the 70-74 e-bodies so I think they will fit. Only differences might be the calipers on the earlier disc braked Chargers.

Not sure if you meant this Dave but there are a good few differences between, for example, spindles and discs within those models/years. different bearing sizes, rotor construction, calipers etc. Can't speak for the drum components.

Oh thanks for reminding me. The big change came in 1973 when the inner bearing was increased in size. That is the only change I am aware of.

I think that the key thing is (IMO) that the Spindles are the same so the new assembly should bolt on.

Sits back and waits to be shot down in flames....

Yes, I would guess that for the same year the drum brake spindles are interchangable.......(but who wants to guess :( )

Dave, on discs the earlier rotors were 2 piece, LH threads, and there were the KH? fixed calipers too.
