Forgot to say. As long as he uses a good quality multi-layer soft ally or copper header gasket he should remain leak free as well.

I would never use the supplied gaskets no matter what the brand.

tti's have serious flanges! Morgan, before you fit the new headers wrap a piece of fairly course emery around a flat piece of wood about 8" long and rub that across the exhaust ports to remove any soot and general crud build up, gives whatever gaskets you use the best chance of sealing. Stuff bits of rag down the ports so any muck doesn't go into the cylinders. Another trick, bolt up the headers without the gaskets and check to see you are happy with the fit, then remove the end 2 bolts and loosely screw in a pair that are about 2" long, remove the other bolts and slide back the header and drop in the gasket then refit all the original bolts. This is the best method to avoid ripping the gaskets

Thanks chaps - just got home, gonna head back out there and try my damnedest to get this car operational again in time for the nats. Netver should have started this.... (live and learn).

Right - now for starter (looks like original - it is HUGE !)

My headers went on, sealed perfectly, came off for and engine rebuild, and went back on perfectly. Oh yeah, they're TTI's....

The worse 'ball' joint I've ever found to be removed is the pitman arm on the steering box.

Now *that* is the sort of post I like....
I've got the headers off ! (without undoing engine mounts ! )

They are *horrid*.

Gonna post some pics in a mo show how awful they are...
