93 XM 2,1 turbodiesel. Cheap buy and cheap drive for a "fullsize" European car. Comfy as well with auto trans, cruise and AC.
But: unreliable and is for sale these days... Odo reads 248.000 miles!

Bit scary that on one daily driver thread that three daily drivers had their windows smashed...I'm with Alex on this one, what's wrong with people these days?

I stopped driving what most people would call "flash" cars as daily drivers because of vanadalism. Back in the eighties I had a Lotus Esprit, private plate, all the yuppie stuff I suppose and it was wrecked by vandals three times and virtually totalled last time.

I sent it to the garage and told them to repair it, sell it, plate and all and give me the change.

I got eight grand back on a 35 grand car

ivor, i reckon your safer with a decent car from the vandals, never had a prob with the bentley , or the 840 bmw i had last yr, but the wife,s old vectra and before that cavalier is constantly gettin bricked by pricks, useuall thing never around when it happens, cause whoever it is doin it is gonna love cleanin there teeth through there asshole

It was only the new cars Dunc, I've never had a problem with a problem with stuff like the Mopars, E-types and Morgans, people seem to leave those alone...anyway, the next one's gonna be a Dodge truck, so let's hope they think I'm as big as you are!

One of my favourite cars was a MK2 Capri I bought for £100. Ironically it was one of the most reliable as well.

I swear the Ford Pinto has to be the most indistructable engine in the world.

I'll second that. I hammerd the life from my 1.6 capri adn it would not go bang. even after I had crashed it and had rammed the engine back ito the bodyshell, ripped off my front suspension and twisted the chassis, (all front impact) it still started. untillI bought the Satellite that Capri was my favorite car ever.

I remember the cam belt broke and myself and a friend walked to the local shop, bought a new one and changed it at the side of the road with only a penknife as our tool kit. It fired first time and we drove it home...

You can't do that anymore

I have always said that you can take your new cars and "go poke em". You know that you have a proper car when most problems can be fixed with an adjustable spanner, flat blade screwdriver,a pocket knife or a big hammer.
