I would of thought doing a burnout with 295s out back & not going over 3000 revs would be a little better than sticking it in park & revving the nuts of it,with the only damage ,if any,being the outer bearing seal on the rear axle.These cars are built to take stick,obviously not all the time,but some.If sitting there doing a burnout for a couple of min,then you are asking for trouble,gearbox overheat etc etc.Once in a while for a bit of fun,who cares.

Years ago in my old 383 65 Polara, while doing a burnout at Chelsea cruise, i wondered the same thing, that Dave and Dunc have said
....so i let off the gas and as the revs came down from 5 grand to about 2000rpm, i hit the gas again to 4500 and let it slow again and kept doing this for sometime...i dont know if this increased the stress, or reduced it, but the Crowd loved it, as the motor noise raised and slowed along with the tyre squeeling and smoke.
One tyre caught firet at one point
but only for a few seconds.
thank God.
Whats the opinion here, was that style off burnout increasing or decreasing the motor / trans stress ?? or just the same
I also got nicked for criminal damage to the road...expensive as i was only 19 at the time.
