Squeak!

I wanted to ask this for ages but had forgotten since I've not been driving.....My car(tranny) squeaks when I shift manually?? Is this maybe the belts slipping??

okay, let me put it this way - When I shift manually, I hear a screech/squeak :?: any ideas as to what it causing it?

You sure it is not the alternator belt slipping on the front of your engine?

I can't think of anything that could screech in the trans. :? It is full of oil...

Are there any other symtoms such as the RPM going high for the speed you are doing?

Alternator belt...hmmmm had'nt though of that..it does sound like a belt slipping. I'll check/adjust and roadtest.

Steve,
Make sure it aint a bearing slipping, whats the oil pressure like.
Have you got a gauge or just the idiot light
I had a bearing spin, sounded like the fan belt slipping on and off for a while then Oh My God :oops:
Rev the car hard in very short bursts, while some one listens, this will find it.
Warm the car up first.

Thanks guys. Luckily it was just the belt...adjusting it cured the squeak.
( I could tell just from going 100 yards up the road officer ;) )

Was nt trying to scare you Steve....but when it happened to me, if i had caught it earlier, i would still have had that motor. it sounded just like a slipping fan belt......weird
