Could be,there's a few grades of mazak, depends on the other alloy metals, like tin or copper etc. What is suprising is that they don't appear to have distorted with heat,I'd have expected the spindles to be jammed or flanges bent.

I agree. I was going to leave them bare metal. But the owner wanted them to look like mine which to be honest I painted gold to see what they would be like but since decided to fully polish them for heat reflection more than looks.

I will not be painting any more until I have had him around to show him that one and have a word. However I don't really want to get into polishing these as it would take a lot of time and effort over days.

dave i found after building and cleaning the carbs, similar to you that a coat of spray laquer finishes them off nice needs to be a good grade so the gas dont take it off but is a good alternative to the nice factory finish that in time goes away

I tried a tin of their "bronze" carb restorer paint and it was HORRIBLE!! It came out looking a funny brown/green colour. Great for an Army truck but awfull on a street machine.

If the can you have is the same as that chuck it in the bin mate.

I will see how Tim likes the gold paint. If he likes it i will do the rest the same.

As for mine. I might leave them gold (you can't see them with the air filter on) or I might polish them and the intake one cold winter night. :)

The tin is surplus to requirements now Dave. I ended up going out and buying three brand new carbs, and they are plated so I dont need the tint. :)

Out all day yesterday. Too ill today. I should have had Tims carbs finished by now. So far only a few hours spent on them.

After discussion with Tim we are sticking to the gold paint unless it washes off. :D

It does look a lot better in the flesh than it does in a flash photograph. ;)

Oh well.

Here we are then. Just waiting for the vacuum diaphrams to arrive from the US.

One "before" shot and a few as it is now. This is me just about finished. Tim has rubber hose and "T" pieces to complete the vacuum lines.

Never say something is beyond repair without looking under the surface. Dirt comes off. TLC can make things as good as new.
