Update, shimmed the bell to taste, borrowed another dial gauge that would red at 90 degrees to the surface. Found I was now within the range of offset dowel correction so did that. Engine in Tomorrow...

I could do with that size alternator for the 57 Chevy Truck, I'm a bit close to the head. Is it extra shallow as well as small diameter?
