Yeah shame that i also see that even with chemical dips the seams still corrod is there anything i can do. Seam seal everything ?

Yep, even chemical dips can't get rid of it unless you unpick the entire body!

All you can do is get the Bilt Hamber rust buster in there and once fully cured and dry, on with the seam sealer.

Cut out all of the contaminated metal, replace it and seal it..........."IT`S THE ONLY WAY" ;) ;) ;) or treat what you have to keep, paint it and seal it. :thumbright:

Nice work by the way 8-)

Can you not paint the car yourself? Looking at the work you've done so far I would have thought you have the skill to do it yourself and save a few quid.

Would love to save a few quid but im well out my league as it is

My only painting experance involed a white rabit and blue paint (poor creatcha)

Crap paint job i think would be a false economy at this stage

Also time

I could spend years sanding it she is big.

So come on people with all your lovely paint jobs what did it cost ;)

Mine cost £1300 sprayed inside and out. I did all the prep myself and did the colour sanding afterwards. Was great for the money but not a show winner.

My Charger was a bag of sand.....again, not a show winner, but then I used mine to go to Tesco's
Car parks not a problem at that price.

Show winners could get breathed on wrong ;)

Depends what you want.

You could spend 5k and then get a rust bubble a year later.

What if you get a stone chip on the front of the hood at that money :pale:

Depends what YOU want. Tis YOUR car buddy :thumbright:

If they are to do all the work, then I'm sure you'll be looking around at least 2k all in. It's a labour thing you know

As mentioned by Jules, the sky is the limit, all down to what you want to pay.

Paint prices can be riduculous, a mate of mine with a show car, paid over £5k just for a flame job, know another that paid £11k & they wanted to charge more

If you do most of the prep, then cost will be minimised, but I doubt any painter would give a guarantee of the outcome.

I'm guessing, but if you did all the prep, I'm also assuming your considering standard 2 Pack, no fancy metallics . . . £1000 - £1,500

Cellulose is still available, if you want to stay with a more original style paint scheme

No body could quote a price without seeing it, preparation is everything & depends on how much prep your car is going to take.
A good paint job doesnt come cheap, but on the other hand you want anyone having your pants down.
Good quality water based paint is a fortune, there could easily be over £500 in materials allown, maybe more, alot more
It would be best to get somebody that comes recomended off somebody you know rather than try somebody random as they all start out with smiling faces & good intention but often things go wrong & dont take car to many miles away for it, so as you can easily nip down to where it is & see what progress is been made.

Make sure you always tell a painter you are in hurry for it cos they are always late, 1 month really means 6 months
And most important agree exactly what is going to be done & get a firm quote

Thanks guys great advice and info there.

The more i think about it the more i want a tesco carpark door knocker.

But solid no rust can always later have a show winning paint job.

Hard being in germany as dont know any painter.

Got quoted 1800 pound just for materials by 3 different body shops today  crack heads

So i have ordered everything today from the uk i need to paint it bar the top coat.
not decided on color yet want it black but will show up every bump.

Does a matt black show up every little imperfection like a shinny black ??

...........................................................................................................

So cut out sail panel new panel from year-one good fit (thanks sinny)

Under panel another panel it had suface rust

so i thought ahhhh give that a little blast wont take to long just quick so not to much sand everywhere

Well

Dont not ever ever sand blast outside of a sand blasting tank.

It went everywhere

and i mean Bananarama! everywhere

I think i have sand behind my eyes
and inside my girlfriend

10min to blast hours to clean

Kev im sorry but the new camera that was 10meters away is now full of sand and wont work (tw@t) so we are back to poo pic for the mo.

Also gave everything a coat of red

Learning
