Thats what I'm thinking too. It's just got a wee 2 bbl on. Saying that, its a replacement engine. It does have headers and a H beam exhaust system on with funny silencers that you can adjust to alter the tone??? I'm gonna head down now and see.

Well its just a standard 8 1/4 diff and I get two full rotations of the prop to about 1 1/4 on the wheel. So disapointing but somewhat expected really. So there's another item to add to the list in the future! On the plus side I should have my 340 engine heading over from Miami fairly soon. It need's bored .60th over or resleeving on one of the bores but I got it for a good price. I know of a good engine builder's here in Scotland who regulary build up American engines willing to carry out the work. The engine could end up being a Lemon I guess but the shop I bought it off of seamed fairly genuine and is going well outta his way in assisting me to ship it over the the UK.

Hopefully you dont need to go to +60 as thats streching it a bit far for a 340,

Let me know as I have a set of +.30th forged pistons and rings(chrome moly) for a 340 all brand new in a box and looking for a new home.

You might want to check those figures! If you're saying that you get 2 turns of the prop to 1 1/4 turns (1.25) of the road wheel, then that would be a 1.6 ratio??? If you had both wheels jacked up and you don't have a suregrip then the other wheel probably wasn't turning at the same rate as the wheel you were turning. You need to look across to the other wheel to check they turn together at the same rate.

Cheers Guy,
I'll see what the machine shop makes of the deep score in the bore. Hopefully .30th will get it but I doubt it. If I get that bore resleeved then I will be going .30th. I have seen quite a few companys selling .60th 340 pistons. If they sell them it must be do-able surley?

Rolling the car on the ground for one revolution is the best way to measure an open diff.....
