i wish i knew that one!!!!!
as much horse power as possible outta the 318 then once ive got bord of that go big block but this will be over a number of years and red bank statments, but at the same time with the small block keep it street drivable (but not worrid about comfort)

Would it not be better to just drive around in your 318 and build a 360 as and when? You can pick up a 360 for about £300-£400 and have a much better starting position. As your gonna be pumping atleast £1-2k into building it £300 will seem like a drop in the ocean and you'll just kick yourself later. Also, it will be more desirable for selling on to fund your big block when you go down that road.
Thats kinda what I'm doing with my Duster, poodle around in the Stock 360, although I'm gonna fit a 4bbl and consentrate on building my 340.

I think Andy's got the right idea there Pete.
Can you tell us what your current axle spec is? It might make more sense, particularly economically, to up spec the centre section until you develop some serious horsepower.
You might want to think about driveability too. I had 3.55 gears in my Road Runner, which was perfect for a bit of street and strip...any lower than that and you'll be revving the nuts off it and drinking juice.
However, if you are only going to the Pod or Shakey half a dozen times a year with maybe a trip to York or Brooklands, you could go for a 3.90 or even a 4.10 ratio.

yes its for 4wds but they do say its used for drag cars
and its locked all the time unless you go round a corner when it unlocks the outer wheel so it can spin up to the speed necessary to get it round the corner without causing the inner wheel to loose traction
i.e spool like operation at the strip but drivable on the street.
no i haven't got one
no i don't know anyone who has
but it sounds great.
replace the guts of ya LSD sure grip with this

Would that LOKKA Kit work in an open Diff? Seems like a nice bit of kit and for $599AU sounds like a great price. Plus its easy to fit (so they say)

If you want a conversion for an open diff try these guys -around a long time and have 8 3/4 versions

A good LSD (we call 'em sure-grips for Mopars - 'posi' is a Che*y term

) is hard to beat for street/strip use IMHO - a clutch-type suregrip is a great piece. The lockers can be a bit harsh on the street too (though certainly streetable as opposed to a spool).

Your best bet is a Ford 9inch if you want a locker, you can stick a Detroit in it.
Cant argue with that! Fairly strong, loads around, cheap and fits under an A-body - works for me
Gotta Centre section with 3.7 on a Locker and 4.11's on a Spool - Street / Strip covered

yea i think ill do wot andy said as a 360 has just popped up (uummm conveniant), seem a better way (also dont wont to do the nos route) for bit of power to start with.
ive currently got a stock 7 somthing axle (aint got a clue on gears) and it the one wheeler dealer as you should all no from the burn out comp at the nats

I had one of these (same make) in my series 3 competition landy, it was a good, strong unit but would come in/lock up with a big bang/jar thro the vehicle. it sensed more than two thirds differentiation then locked with the toothed discs. reverse parking was a problem and would lift tarmac on a hot day it also killed a lot of halfshafts as the engagement was so vicious but they were made of chocolate on landys anyway!!!. I would not recomend one for a road biased car
