so how exactly do you get a nice weld on cardboard

i always seem to blow holes in it (and any metal that might be near by

It's all back together now and painted. I had a slight hitch, i managed to touch one the transcooler ally pipes with the grinder blade, cut into it in a millisecond

It's turned out ok as the pipes were a pig to fit- all right angles and bracket stubs. I've chopped them back to stumps, flared the ends with a pair of pointy pliers and pushed on some braided silicon hose i had knocking around instead, lovely!

Just have to design & weld up the new bumper (2 lengths of 3x2" to match the rear) then mod & refit the crash bar over the lot.

New nerf bars for me new bumper- all done now

I've made 'em so they run back to the chassis underside for a bit more strength.
Might add crosspieces top and bottom between the bars

Either get someone experienced to show you or see if there's a course at your local Tech College- saves an awful lot of time

And get lots of practice before you weld anythin important!!

And have an angle grinder to hand to tidy up the mess you'll make

And a fire extinguisher

I had a red D100 many years ago bought it from a guy in Poole. It had a flip front, no fuse box (all the wires had been joined together!!!) and wooden blocks painted black for a lift on the back axle

Will never know why I bought it.................. There was a few of these at Mumbersons yard in Alvechurch don't know if thy are still there though!

I had a steering box from Mumbertons a few years ago, is he still going? Hope so!

Squeal for me boy!!

Added a couple more bars and stuck the cibies back on...

Now, i've finished enjoying the shinyness.
Do i matt black it like the rear or Green 'em both???

Ah well, enough pampering...back to work!

Ian Mumberson died,think it was last year

. The last I heard was his mum was running the yard but not too sure how well. That place was like an Aladdin's cave and Ian knew every inch and every part there.

Well it's MOT time and even my lovely half-blind MOT man won't turn a blind eye to the big hole growing in the cab floor beneath my feet.

Just reading back through this thread, Mumbersons yard is now clear. & sold for building I think....Not sure how much of the stuff got saved? I know at least one of the Kenworths went for Restoration. & all the small block Chevys went to a well known engine builder. I may have dreamt this but wasn't there a roadruner on his mums drive? Would love to know how much stuff ended up in the crusher

roadrunner went long time ago, just about all remaining parts have gone and some of the units are being rented out for now, as for parts in the crusher about 60%, got more for scrap than waiting for punters to turn up, but then a lot of it was cr@p that no one over here would ever use

My favourite bodge was cutting the front bumper up with a builders hand saw, Reminded me of Bernie and Leepu on Chop Shop.
