The BBC do have adverts, for their own up and coming programs, often splitting a popular show in 4 to do so.

No license fee over here.......And the TV is crap! Luckily there is 1 station with no ads in the program and it shows The Bill, hoorah! My weekly slice of Olde England. Plus the odd New Tricks, Midsommer Murders etc. Only problem is not being able to pop out back for a smoke or replenish the stubby cooler!!! The average viewing length of a film over here is 3hrs due to ads every 8 mins. They even have pop ups during the programs advertising future programs which somewhat ruins the mood (sarcasm) of the endless American cop dramas.......Still, I'm usually out fishing of a night or sitting outside chilling. The majority of Poms over here have FoxTel (Oz Sky equivalent) for the footie, which does not interest me. They advertise FoxTel as saving you money due to the fact you won't go out anymore......That's not living Barry!!

Dear Sirs

Hello my name is Tony Teaserman i live in the North West (Bolton)

I do not know if this is the right place to to say this? so i have also posted a copy on the MMA board, but i will just let you know that when the signal turns to digital in November i will give away all my TVs Videos and Midget Porn Collection and no longer bother to pay the license.
I recently lost my job due to lack of effort and a glass back like many others at the post office, and i think it is unfair that i should pay a license fee just to own a TV! i think i should be not given a choice to get the BBC and not pay a fee if i choose to not watch the BBC,Why should i pay to keep all BBC staff in secure work? when the rest of the country is struggling? paying for stuff i do watch and jobs for the Boys with all these endless Celebrity programs! and idiots who should be sacked like Jonathan Ross ( whom i have had many haircuts inspired by) .Before you think i am bitter and twisted i felt the same before i lost my job because i did`nt like working anyway and before the Jonathan Ross episode.
To make matters worse if i want to watch something BBC again i have to pay for inexpensive DVDs just to see it again on top of the license fee,Doctor Who is a bad example.funny how we were bombarded with repeat-es before money was to be made on DVD and Betamax Video, and now the good stuff is not shown again.

I will not go on anymore! all i will say is the BBC has had its day and i will not be paying a license fee again, and i will let my views knows to my local MP and anybody else that will listen, that i think the License fee should be scrapped next time it is reviewed.

Yours With Lots Of Love

T C Tyreman. xxxxxxxx

one thing you could write to them about is the waste of the licence fee

few other companies pay for staff to be taken to and from work by taxi because they start before 06:00 am and finish after 08:00 pm

was horrified to find (when i worked for BBC broadacast) that a huge number use this service not just Chris Moyles.

granted female staff who are kept on site until late at night fair enough no manager male of female would want a mugging or attack on their conscience..but where do you stop.

its a bit like the NHS and civil service

acts of brilliance are often overshadowed by the political shenanigans general incompetence and down right unprofessional behavior of a great number of the staff a lot of whom are just waiting for their final salary pension and doing nothing useful in the process.

i could have died at my desk at the BBC and nobody would have noticed...i was employed to fill a gap in a team not because there was any work for the team to do......my trips to watch Blue peter or the set-up for top of the pops were the highlight of the week. that and hiding round the corner having a fag up on the roof while weathermen did their stuff to camera.

and i once saw Nicholas Witchall he is very small

I find the licence fee mildly annoying too , nearly as annoying as paying for first class post only to find it takes 3 days to arrive for one reason or another

When my Morris Team was the darling of the media the fees we managed to screw out of various TV stations varied considerably. This was back in the early 90's - 2000; LWT; £1200-1500. Granada £1200. James Whale £1000 each time. Endemol £1000+ Calendar Girls £3000 plus accommodation. Sky/BSB £600. BBC; lucky to get travelling expenses....

Well - opinions are all subjective I suppose...
I consider the BBC to be a bargain beyond compare. Peerless programmes, and advert free. Radio the envy of the world over, documentaries, quality programming.
Quite enjoy C4 and E4 - but tend to tape things as I cant bear the ads. (Last series of skins was about 22 mins of ads per hour. Unreal.)

What I cant understand is Sky TV. I know people paying £40+/month - thats like £500/yr for Sky ! I mean how much TV can you watch ??? I suppose given that I watch a couple of hours/wk but still...

Nope, gotta disagree on this one. The BBC is about quality and service (dancing aside). Advert strewn ITV and footy obsessed sky are a good few rungs below.
Long live the beeb. :!:

Fair play :thumbright:

My main gripe is i feel like it is a Tax,if i had the choice to pay and watch or not then i would be happier rather than begrudgingly paying it.

But i understand it would not be the same thing if i had my way.

Talking of adverts there were a lot on the BBC recently about paying your License fee, even picking on poor Students who have little money and nether do the parents of them so they had a campaign to scare the parents that they would foot the £1000 fine...Nasty :x
