Powder coating????
Any experiences or ideas?
On my way home from work I made a detour and trundled over to a powder coaters workshop near Aldershot.
He showed me a few silver and silver metallic samples that had quite small flake in the metallic ones but looked reasonable and I think powder coating may be a serious option when we were talking rough prices.
Bloke reckons he has been provided enough sample material that would cover both bumpers from a supplier that is a shiny silver finish like a chrome effect, could not find the sample card to show me.
Will be making a sample on a bit of pipe for me to view tomorrow.
Think I'll give him a bell in the morning to ask him to make a sample that I can keep so I can do some serious comparisons and to see it in daylight (some day soon I hope there will be daylight that I'll see again - I work in a room with no windows all bloody day long!).
For my purposes, financially and turn around time wise it may be a serious contender.
Hi Blue.
I do remember seeing your bumpers and talking to you about them. Although I do remember seeing the flake in them I don't remember how much was visible under the lights in the shed. I do however distinctly remember thinking it was large flakes.... Is this right and if so is it the way to go?
Hi Jeff
Thanks for the pics, they do look bloody good. Would it be a tough enough finish for a bumper on a car that is driven every day - would it chip and scuff up quickly?
Hi Clivey
Please stop scaring my with your banner
Hi Guy
I'll have a good look at the link you posted.
Thanks
Hi MrNorm
I do remember your thread, your reflection in the bumper...
Was this also the thread where it was discussed about the best way to treat the rear of the bumpers, waxoyl etc.?
The price range of your electroplater sounds much more attractive. But the time off the road is also a factor for this car. I'll also look them up tomorrow to see where they are.
Thanks All
