Again, opinion is divided, but I prefer the later spool type Transmission "K" members as it holds the transmission tail shaft more securely whilst still allowing flexibility. Angle Grinder and MIG at the ready (Ask Blue....)
Hauser has just put one in the AWB - the original was solid mounted and I am sure would have seen the tranamission casing off in short order....

Yes you can still get the long Hurst shifter, auto and 4 speed Trans cross members are the same. What you would want to do though is the E body K frame swap, that moves the engine back about 2" and still looks stock, and means you can use any B body headers, but you would have to modify the Trans crossmember in that case. Jem's Belvedere was done that way.

Could you use a Motorplate and re-fab the Trans cross member......assuming the headers will clear the Steering box. This is what we did on the Barracuda to get the Hemi in....

If you have time scan my Belve thread, there's loads of pics and details of the many installation problems I had to sort out.
Mine was 4-spd originally but Andy Neal had cut the tunnel out to fit a Lenco, as well as removing the Z-bar mount and losing the clutch pedal. He'd also started fabricating a bolt-in trans mount/ crossmember as the welded-in strut has the middle cut out. I didn't have a lot to go on...
Look here for Trans mount, Z-bar mount, making a clutch pedal, modding & reinforcing clutch fork, torque strap, new prop...

See this is why you got to love this place ,,,after all the Bananarama! taking ,of which some of it i am guilty as charged,,,You get some good solid info .... If i keep the car i will £speed it ,,,it left the factory with a $speed ...it was also a big block car ,so i am guessing a 383 .... Thankyou Blue and DB some stuff there i would have learnt the $ard way ........keep it coming lads ..Need photos ,,,etc

your trans mount thingy is fine as far as i can tell
both the 727/904 and a833 and related manual boxes all fit through that gap
only an issue if you go for a modern Bigger box
