Do not sound chimes
1. for longer than 12 seconds at a time;
2. more often than once every 2 minutes;
3. more than once when the vehicle is stationary at a selling point;
4. except on approach to or at a selling point;
5. when in sight of another vehicle which is trading;
6. when within 50 metres of schools (during school hours), hospitals, and places of
worship (on Sundays and other recognised day of worship);
7. more often than once every 2 hours in the same length of street;
8. louder than LAmax 80dB at 7.5 metres; *
9. as loudly in areas of low background noise or narrow streets as elsewhere.
REMEMBER: It is an offence to sound your chimes before 12.00 noon or after 7.00 pm.
It is an offence to sound your chimes at any time in a way which gives
reasonable cause for annoyance.

10. Only sound chimes when run out of ice cream.
I know, it's an old one...
As for those police w****rs. Do they have any idea how much damage they do to the reputation of the rest of the force? Their colleagues should give 'em a good hard slap

So that make the dixie horn OK on a 69 charger ? Pre 73, and it isnt used as a 'warning device'. Neither is it 2-tone which is specifically described further down ?

Nail on the head dp, I know wayne very well who owns the Charger, he cannot believe he was pulled up, it doesn't do the reputation of the police any favours, their scared to go near travellers which is a big problem in Dorset through the summer, and yet a couple of jobs worths pick on someone doing a wedding job on a sunday just because of his car horns sounding, I wouldn't be surprised if wayne never does another job, so it's joe public who will lose out again, in France when anyone gets married the car horns are doing there conkers, but i guess it's not to the tune of Dixie!

All is happy now with Mr Wayne Duke, down here in sunny Dorset.
The charges were dropped after wayne received a call from the police recently, and he got an apology.

Good to see common sense prevailing once in a while.

My local ice cream vans (we have three of them) annoy the hell out of me when I'm outside. Every day, rain or shine. Even snow once one of them was going for it.
I think they have their place at a car show, or in a field on a hot summers day, sure. But in a residential area, everyday after schools and all weekend is a joke.

When I was 11 and at secondary school we had a ice cream turf war at our school.
There was one that was allowed to park on the field inside the gates in front of the school building.
But a rival started parking just outside the gates only 100 yards away where a lot of kids hung out at lunchtimes.
It was great when it kicked off. Don't understand swearing in Italian but it sounded pretty cool. Learned a few English swear words we hadn't come across before too.
Then the knives came out! It was brilliant!

Why the hell ice cream men carry knives a foot long is beyond me but they sure as hell are not afraid to start slashing at each other with them.
Meanwhile one of my classmates had climbed into the van on the field and was dishing out free ice cream as fast as he could. By the time the gadgie had noticed and came running back (still waving his knife) I think about 8 of us had an ice cream and we also made off with the bottle of "monkey's blood" syrup.
We did return the syrup but I had the idea of putting it under the front wheel. So when he eventually drove off it squirted "blood" about 50 feet.
Ah. Possibly one of the best days I ever had at school when I think.

Better watch you around ice cream vans then. I've made a mental note!
