System One Remote Engine oil filter and location - advice??

I would personally would make it out of 1/16" or 3/32" gauge plate. Gauge plate comes pre ground flat.
Not a necessity, but gauge plate can easily be hardened due to its carbon content. (heat cherry red & dip in oil, then temper to straw colour, easily done with a gas torch)
The 3/32" option would allow for a flick over with a grinder if there is some distortion after hardening.
1/16" Matl for non hardened option.

FYI - Hard anodised aluminium can achieve good wear properties. hard anodised aluminium will have the same hardness as nitrided steelPete wrote:Standard covers are cast iron so much harder than the aluminium...........
Cast iron, especially of the mehanite kind are also self lubricating, which helps with the wear properties
