Ok I am getting there
Basically cars before 1998 were filled with R22 gas which knocked holes in the ozone( especially above Birmingham)
The EU banned it along with bent bananas.
This was replaced with new 143a gas which only put holes above croydon (which no one cares about.)
The lubrication for the compressor and condenser is different in 143a and buggers up the old components. So MR Air C is ceaning up by upgrading the seals and pipes, refurbishing the old compressors and refilling with the new gas. Mucho Money.(£900)
The boys across the pond replaced R12 with R22 and subsequently R46 gas which is not illegal and wont fry your bits but not so lucrative just suck out the old R12 and depose safely see EU directive blah Blah bkah 01 and give your motor a blow job with R46 job done
£50 you do the maths we'll do the ?
So I am searching for a Mopar friendly recharge company and we should all be sorted.
Now I know there is an Air Con anorak out there waiting to correct me but I domt give a flying mustang.
Will keep y'all posted.

Halfords won't have the old gas....Its banned now from what I understand. I'm pretty sure you can't mix old and new, so you would have to get it regassed by an air con specialist. There are a few "oop north" but I don 't know about "doon sooth"....
[EDIT] Sorry only read first page before replying by accident

Mate of mine local to me can do it (SO I HEAR). AND he (allegedly) has some R12. The proper refrigerant (although not approved of by tree huggers).

Yes and you've probably got other bits missing too.
Thanx, time for some investigating then
