great looking car Blue!! Sorry to be a pain but Im just sorting some event stuff and having a break before a bit more work on my New Yorker later. I don't have time to read the whole thread but will with a JD n Coke later.

In the 4th picture at the start of the thread, I can see the set up behind the front brake. I need to replace the top and bottom boots (top one visible in your shot, bottom one removed) on my New Yorker. Bottom one looks easy, do I need a special tool for the top one or is it just a case of getting a ball joint splitter in there and separating the joint? Im going to use a jack and the weight of the car to keep everything together as I assume its under a bit of a load??

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Yes you can take the weight off with a jack and I normally use the 2 hammer method to split the balljoints, easy peasy.

Rock Auto site is good if you're not exactly sure what something is called, there's usually a photo and some tech to identify stuff, even if you are going to order elsewhere.

Thanks Blue.... I think (according to the manual) they are called upper and lower ball joint seals. Will check Rockauto then ring US Automotive. Sorry for the thread hijack and ta for advice as always,

Cheers Steve :thumbright:
