Block the ports Stu , sitting in traffic with fuel perculating ain't much fun , could get away with it when using fuel 'back in the day' , todays fuels are Bananarama! , any excess heat in/around the intake will boil the fuel , will also vapourise the fuel in the bowls/fuel lines.

The colder the intake the denser the A/F ratio , ever wondered why the motor makes more power when cold as opposed to hot? ;)

Now you've got me worried Adam, I never had any problems with overheating, sitting in traffic and the fire up lane on a hot day/all day in the Challenger...

But was that before or after I fitted the Air-Gap?

Oh well we'll find out, I'm not going to block mine. 8-[

The fuel is pretty much atomised as it leaves the boosters , problems arise when the throttle bores/boosters are too big for the application , the same thing applies with regard to the emulsion bleeds , if the fuel is'nt atomised when it leaves the boosters then a cold intake won't be ideal , the opposite would apply with the fuel atomised & a cold intake.

There's an experiment in the making here, then! :D We'll block, you don't and we'll see how it works. :thumbright:

Ok, so I understand (a bit) more, cheers Fella's. What about the extra thickness disrupting the seal, then? :?

I don't think anyone's right or wrong regards blocking the crossover passage or not , depends what you wanna do with the motor , more likely you'll need to run a plate between carb & intake if the passage is left open , no problem if you can get hold of some 5 star fuel. :D

Will have a plate between intake and carb, as it's a spreadbore intake, so ther'll be a convertor plate, does that count? :D

Going to have to re-read this and try and understand it more in the morning after less Ruddles... :drunken:

Back to sealing the heat transfer port.......
Do you understand "shim" steel? It's like a thick bit of tin foil, super thin and should not affect the seal as it is thinner than Blue at race weight. I think I gave a pack to Philth or Ivor might have some.
Mr TyreFryer......Are you saying you are not blocking off the port that is already blocked off in your manifold?? Or have I read it wrong?
As an aside, my TM5 single plane did not have the crossover passage.

:sad4: :coffee: Right then.... Back to the land of the living!

Kev, hadn't realised that shim steel was that thin, so that answers the sealing question. The confusion has arisen because the inlet manifold has got the same holes as the heads, so was confused as to why you'd block them off? Still don't fully understand to be honest, makes no sense to manufacture holes that need blocking up, but hey ho! :D

Pete, that's today's job... Got some serious cutting blades from work, so just off to go get the little Bananarama! out.

Thank's for all the comments, Lads! :thumbright:

The heat crossover as it tends to be called, is there to heat the inlet manifold so the stock choke stove will work among other things. Us hot rodders like a nice cool intake manifold to produce more power, that's the only reason for blocking it off.
