So next up was axle brace
As this is a DIY project i gave it a go.
First im working with the fact the axle was straight as all original bearing where 100% perfect.
First i strapped the axle to a RSJ (under the wooden table top)
Then welded on 2x metal rods to see if its still straight when welded
The axle was then bent 2.5mm down towards table.
Then welded on brace starting at the most outer point then working inwards. Welding over x (like you do a head gasket up)
The welder was a mig and set to 168amp with low wire speed.
After welding the axle was unscrewed from table and came back to with in 1mm.
I cant see that 1mm over the whole length the axle will matter but only time will tell.
Then powder coated.
Have given up with the chrome powder coat as it is starting to fade so gone for a gun metal Grey
