Brought as a super box with all the fancy bits.

Can anyone see anything fancy i know nout about gearboxes???

You can't tell a lot just by looking at the bottom of the valve body.

All I can tell you from those pictures is it has a deep pan and an early front servo. You'd have to strip it down to see what else it has. 9.5 times out 10, when you pull an unknown Torqueflite apart that is supposed to have "all the best bits" in it, you'll find nothing but a shift kit, a four clutch front drum and a decent ratio front servo lever, the best of the cheap stock parts in other words. Aftermarket parts are very expensive and unnecessary in a lot of cases. A billet front drum alone is 500 quid, you'd be looking at over 2 grand in parts alone if you start chucking race parts in there...

Also now i have polished it should i paint it with a clear coat so it keeps its shiney ?? Wax ?? WD40 ??

Dont want to polish is every again never

Clear coat and then wax. You can't keep them clean if you use the car.

I'd just paint it with clear as already said by others.... would have never polished it, paint mine if anything.... But then again I will never manage to own a car as good as yours will turn out for that very reason!

eastwoods do a good diamond clear, 2k clear will lift if not done with a etch, you use to be ablecan get a clear etch primer for glass, but this looks to be the stuff for polished ali

I cant get any luiquid into germany due to de customs so i found a german clear lack metal paint. When i painted it on it was like i have painted it with milk was gutted. Went back today and its clear and perfect.
Changed filter fitted a magnet in the sump from old 6x9. Went to fit new rear seal (thanks for the lesson John R) could not find a socket to fit but found some sort of snuff box my gradad gave me
Had one sump bolt that was srewed so fitted a heli coil. First one for me brought kit and followed instruction all good

so yellow zinc plating got my more parts back from the platers

some where great and some not. Seams that a part that was heaily pitted with rust looks matt plated if you know what i mean. On my rear and front axle where i cleaned with a grinder it looks great. So i grinded the whole front and rear axle and took them back to be plated again. Also one tiny hole in my brace welding made the brace fill with water and cause problems with the zincing so i welded it up. 2steps back one step forward

How have you managed to Zinc plate the heater motor impeller. Its made of plastic?

Yes, any thing that is pitted prior to plating will look even worse after plating.

Its just like painting - its all in the prep.
