Thanks for all the kind comments folks.
Yesterday I spent some time getting the back wheels off the car, the slicks on the rims are a knackered old pair that don't keep the air in. I have a pair of inner tubes to go in these and they will stay on the car while I'm building it.
Tonight I stripped the rear axle of everything and removed the halfshafts. I almost got the axle completely off the car but was short of a 15/16" spanner for the bolts that attach the four link tubes to the axle and chassis, so I had to call it a night. Once the axle is off it just needs a coat of paint and then I can start re-assembling the back end before moving on to another part of the car.

Thanks John, i was tempted by your heads but I'm going to use what I've got for the time being and see what I can do with it.
Hang in there James, I know how frustrating it can be but once you're in, it will be worth it. Good luck.

Cheers guys.
Well tonight I had a slight change of plan, I decided to strip the whole car rather than doing a bit at a time. So apart from the engine and gearbox, tonight everything is off the car. Hopefully I'll get them out tomorrow night.

Martin,
Your car looks better every time I see a bit more.
I can see it being a nice weapon of choice & one to look out for in the future.
Good luck with your build & keep us all informed, pictures are always good
