My old D100 used to have a weird vibration that started at about 50mph and was gone again by 60. I couldn't find the cause and then one day going up a long hill it was in the vibration zone a bit too long and it went bang. Broke both UJ's and slung the prop off, shattered the tailshaft and bent the main shaft in the box. Looking at the carnage afterwards It was hard to tell what had failed first, but I think it was the probably the tailshaft. I built another box, fitted a new yoke and UJ's and reused the prop, no vibration....

When I inspects my prop etc recently I noted that the front slip joint was quite reduced where it fits into the tail shaft and has probably contribute to some of the drive line vibes I was getting along with a knackered UJ.
