Hi
sounds like you are having fun
[oh just spotted pete offered to have a look excellent news, PS you do not need a hemi or 4.11:1 gears]
and although i've never seen your car, it sounds to me like someone is taking advantage.......
1) filling the tank
-basically you can't run a modern pump at anything more than 1/4 -1/2 speed
-pull the pump hose right out from its reel and stand on it with 1 foot to stop it pulling back in and so its tension isn't pulling the nozzle at your hand.
-push the nozzle in up to its splash shield, facing as down as possible.
-angle the bend of the nozzle slightly left or right to promote swirl.
-start filling at the slowest speed you can, and ramp it up until you see splashes at the splash shield back off a smidge and hold it there.
ITS A FEATURE.......this is why the Proper race versions of these cars had 2 dodge charger style flip caps in the rear 1/4s behind the rear side windows and 2.5 inch pipe through the boot to the top of the tank. they used to open one to vent and fill through the other.
Alternative is a length of silicone hose off ebay that fits over the pump nozzle as a long sheath , which you shove down the hole, messy to store but effective in action.
2) in My opinion your exhaust should not be costing that much. Pull it out of where it is and get in touch with JohnR or Anton on here. Anton is APD automotive
here
http://www.apdautomotive.co.uk/
and JohnR is a Marine and general engineer
Both are eminently trustworthy guys, based on experience and the fact I have known both for 10 years I'm pretty certain one or both can help you out with these jobs, obviously I have no idea how much they will cost but at least if they say its £750 you have a Nice person... someone one in the club telling you how good/bad it is
John has a day job but will take on other work time permitting.
Anton visits the forum just about every day John doesn't I have numbers for both
There is nothing here that would worry either of them. Anton will take delivery of a car on a trailer and has arranged delivery and return before
john owns a truck and has travelled to fix or picked up and taken away in the past
there would be delivery or travel costs I'm sure but I can't think either would charge £750 to weld up an exhaust.
3) prop shaft
- if its bent then you have a problem
- if its got the original joints they have grease fittings...they need greasing...
- If its not bent and you need joints. half to 1 hour job. pull prop dig out spring clips bash out joints clean up eyes put in new joint slot in caps. clamp in place and put on spring clips. its a 4 small bolts small hammer big screwdriver job (and a G clamp if you are a Jessy or have very weak grip and can't hold the caps in far enough to get the clips on)
yours is a 318 engine with a 904 auto box I have a charger 904 spline shaft that I will never use, for v8 engine/auto swap which I will never do. (why make the best handling Mopar handle badly

)
i.e. I have a shaft here you can have
yours will have painted bands on it. if you tell me what they are I can check compatibility with my spare. I'll have a look at mine.
4) Carb
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-CARBURETT ... SwJcZWb~gP
this is a brand new Chinese copy. I'd take rods springs and jets from your original and fit to this. worst case scenario would be you spend £79 on this, the carb body is rubbish and just end up using the bottom bit with the throttle plates in it, the only problem with your current old carb will be worn throttle shaft bushes or bits missing. I've got one from this seller, eyeballing it the quality seems good but the rubber pipe to the choke puller is rubbish and so is the supplied gasket. use your originals
a US supplier had some Carter BBD carbs made in china these ones on ebay are probably coming out the back door of the factory. The supplier in Hong-Kong is legit and has the product in the picture based on my experience
or take the 4 barrel manifold from stu/gareth and fit a 600 vac secondary holley (the carb the race oriented enthusiasts take off and replace with bigger) or a 550 or 600 Carter/edelbrock in which case make sure you get one jetted springed and rodded for a 318, we can then introduce you to Ade W at a show and he can make it work properly... (he's the fella wearing shorts when its snowing)
If anyone London based is going up Cambridge way happy to stick carb and prop shaft and a serviceable UJ in a very long bag....if my carb works buy me a new one when you get the chance
