no its a 440, is that cam booklet for a 383?

No idea. 383s and 440s take the same cams.

Well it looks to me like it is making peak torque at between 4000 and 4500rpm. :shock:

So you are going to want something like a 4.10:1 rear gear mate. :shock: :shock:

I think it is right mate but it seems a bit on the wild side and you may not like going far on gears that low. But on paper you should run good times and get fair mpg out of it. No worse than now anyway. Plus you should have a 3000rpm stall converter in the trans.

Thanks Dave, it`s got a 2800 stall in it, the trans has just had a rebuild,
pretty wild could cover a lot of things, could you explain,

Looking at it it probably has a high rpm powerband. Probably makes about 500hp?

Does the rpm drop much when you put it in gear? Do you have to hold it back firmly on the brake when at idle in drive?
