My next Mopar will be getting those laser cut frame connectors that match the contour of the floor. Hard to do working from under the car.

Don`t let ANTON see this. or you know what`ll happen next ;) ;) ;)

Too late R.Runner I am already in the process of make my own set of frame connector for my B-body with the intention of selling them too those that want then. When I come to doing my body work I will fabricate my own basic rotisseriey to do the under side of my car.

Hi Guys,

I've had the Rotisserie for two years, told most folks I have it, and it can be loaned out at a fair rate, or I can do the work for them.
Only one person has stepped up and that's Mas(Mater), he is amazed how much time and effort has been saved!
Everyone that I know that has gone through the trouble of making one, why? I have used homemade Rotisseries, and they suck LOL!
Anyways I have a £1000 tied up in a piece of kit that I will only ever use once for my 69 Charger.
The days of restorations is probably over in the Uk, most people are doing or done their cars now.
No-one wants to invest in a £50,000 resto that is worth £25,000 at the end?
We all know where all the top dollar cars go and its been that way for nearly 20years.
Even my mates are talking about taking their cars to JPC!
What can you do???
I haven't paid my mortgage in over a year, so I'm in big trouble with my Building Society and the wife!

Never try and start a business in a recession LOL!

Need to up the Meds, before I hit the Beers?

Baaca.

Oh yes,

Don't get me started on laser cut, fit the floor frame connectors!

Most people don't know I spent 6years in da US working on Mopars and correcting the abortions that have been done to them!
Due to 'company restrictions' on photographing customers cars and all their Horrors, I can't show you what people with Mig Welders and Brazing torches get up to.
I will just let Folks get on with it and keep my mouth shut?

Best wishes to you all, and keep the Mopar Flag flying!

Baaca, still bleatin on?

Bacca is right his rottisserie is a serious bit of kit, certainly wouldn't put a car on anything else especially not something home made, thats just chancing it!

Jon....We've spoken about this I know but generally people won't spend silly money on restoring these cars. There are very few nutters like me.

get into restoring Astons and Jags and you'll never look back...the guys with these cars are happy to spend the dough to restore cos they know they'll get it back one day.

Sorry for your lack of take up......I know when I was looking for a sensible person to do my mechanicals there was no Bananarama! to be seen. :?

That's not strictly true Viper , the conditions you put forward for a guy to work on you're car were not viable to the average guy on here , by all means pay through the nose & have a big outfit carry out the work due to insurances , public liability....................most guys who are passionate with these old cars know far more about them than the big outfits carrying out day to day mechanics , i was prepared to remove my charger out the garage to put you'res in there. ...........

Sorry Brutas................Didn't make myself clear.

What I mean is that there are no outfits that deal in mechanical repairs on the yanks around here such as the set up Jon was trying to get going.

Plenty of garages to do mechanicals on just about anything but I only found one workshop for the US stuff and that involved driving through a lake just to get into the workshop. :?

And of course you're right....lots of knowledge on here...there usually is on specific forums. Lots of help on here including yourself and I got sorted in the end.

I'm relatively new to Mopes and so this forum is invaluable.

I grew up in and around E Types and thats my field of expertise.

Hi Viper and All interested!

I could write a book about so called American/Mopar car repairers/restorers!
The only place in the South is JPC, and me LOL!
You can pay £40 an hour or £20 for the same job.
Then you get to thinking can't be any good if its half price?
So you take your cars to JPC and say it costs a small fortune???
Well if you want you car in a sexy/spanky clean workshop with a receptionist making you a latte coffee, and a copy of vogue to read, then you know why its £100 an hour.
Oh yes, when I last worked in the trade my garage cherged £110 an hour for mechanical and £75 for body and paint!
So thats twice as much as JPC and 4 times more than me!!!

The truth is most peoples want a shiny/straight body and paint, and will cut corners else where, so thats why I don't do exterior paint, just underbody and mechanical, that JPC's department.

But, but, but, once the old 500 gets underway then its all over for Ashford Restorations, as I gotta be selfish and do my own stuff for once!

Bacca, feelin selfish?
