Hi Jon, When I've got the engine and transmission out I'm going to lift the body off so that I can give the chassis a clean and paint the inside of the fibreglass body. Before I do I'll take pictures of all the mounting points and post them up. The body is bolted straight on to the chassis, I have been wondering whether I should use some sort of rubber or plastic spacers or washers to avoid the fibreglass cracking?
Any advice Duncan, Mark, Trev... ?

Hi, yeah I remember the Challenger running from way back...a striaght buy from a very well known USA SS racer...can't remember the name now...ran consistent 10. 0's. on motor here, sounds like you got those Magic iron heads on your motor from that car... rare, prob flow close to a good Indy head?. Shame you didn't get the 6-pack set up as well. Anyhow looks like your gonna have a quick car there, all the best..Les

Being a custom chassis & custom body, the body mounting points would of been specifically made to ensure there was the least or nil distortion.TyreFryer wrote:Hi Jon, When I've got the engine and transmission out I'm going to lift the body off so that I can give the chassis a clean and paint the inside of the fibreglass body. I personally would use a med- hardish rubber between the chassis & body mounting point, in addition I would use large style washers to spread the load, when tightening the body to the chassis

To right John, that colour, it looks like a kind'd ochre shade, yes very nice

I bet it's ICI with a nice none slip texture, you just can''t go wrong with quality floor paint like this

I don't think it will be water based Johnathan, most likely a two-pack system with a hardener agent for extra resilience

I would love to come round and have proper look at it Mart, obviously I would bring my slippers, wouldn't want to get nasty foot prints on it

I bet it still smells new

Thanks for the useful input Jon, Ivor, Mark and John.
As for you Mr Bird, I'm surprised at you taking the Bananarama!, knowing that you would prefer me not to make certain pictures of you available to the wider audience.

Anyway, tonight I pulled the engine and transmission out so the chassis is completely stripped apart from the body which I'll unbolt tomorrow night (I'll take the mounting pics first Jon) and the steering rack, which I need to give a bit of a whack with a mallet and a soft drift. I'll have to leave that until the weekend as I don't want to annoy the neighbours.
