Mine has been overhauled but it's still like steering a boat
Im going to play about with the steering, a pal of mine is a fabricator by trade and hes convinced he can fabricate a modified column / rack to make the steering more responsive. Still going to order the box and give it a go though.
Got a price for that yet, landed ? (Mine could use some love, bit leaky too so might just replace.)

This is the response from Dennis at firm feel...........

Hi Matt,
Yes, we can rebuild a box to stage 3 specifications for your Charger. The rebuild is $379, plus a $175 core deposit. You might be able to locate a core here in the states via the internet and have it shipped to us for less than the core deposit. We are about 3 weeks from order date getting them built and shipped right now. Shipping to UK will be $165.
Thanks, Dennis-FFI

Thanks. So it will be knocking on for £600, less whatever back for the core minus shipping.

$700ish for the box+core+ship
20% vat
Import duty.
Its £Bananarama!. Maybe 500 if you can find a cheap core to ship US side.

Thanks ! Food for thought.
(PS - For your car, given the high end nature of it, I think thats worth doing)

Thanks :)

Stripped the interior out this weekend to check the floor pan for corrosion. It looks like it's had a drivers section replaced at some stage and a small section of the passengers. We were prepared to cut the lot out if required but it is absolutely solid which is a real bonus. The under carriage has been wax oiled and there was minor ( And I mean minor ) surface rust in small areas so we cleaned everything up, treat it with "Rust bullet" and then painted the floor pan blue to match the exterior.

I've ordered a new dash facia and set of dials from the states + a new tank sender unit as the originals don't look up to the job. Seats have been professionally upholstered recently so they will go again after a good clean up.

The carpet isn't to bad but I've ordered another one along with various bits of interior trim. New pedals / rubbers on the way also. The original 8 track isn't working so I'm pulling it and fitting a modern head unit and some decent speakers which will be hidden to keep the originality of the car in order.

Will keep you updated with pics........and thanks to all for the nice comments - what a great bunch of people on here !!

Some of the repro fuel tank senders don't read correctly and need adjustment.

It's a good idea to test the new sender before installation - compare against the old one (if original) both for range of float movement, and accuracy of the gauge. Good to test the gauge at Full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, and empty levels, as there are rumours that some senders read non-linear compared with the factory ones.

Cheers

Matt

lol - Want it ready for summer :)

Ive ordered a Flaming River Steering box and U/J from the states as the Firm feel one was a rebuilt unit and they needed a core box before they could do the work. The Flaming River box is new and ready to ship.

Dropped the centre console trim off today for powder coating and the car is now in the bodyshop.

Yeh good idea - I am taking pics each day ( on with interior as we speak ) building a new rear shelf that will house some discreet speakers + a new seat / trunk divider. O/S & N/S Seat Frames removed and painted and now refitted.

Will be fitting seat belts shortly ( 2 kids ) so will also post pics when done.
