I was rotating the engine by hand too to get it to prime up and out the rockers too. but my main reason was to test the pump was working and getting oil up.

Of course you can Terence, the relief valve is going to blow off at its timed point no matter what the engine is doing what you will see is low pressure if something is wrong, max pressure will be shown running or not,,

Yep I agree with that, you only need to turn the engine to check you're getting oil up top, it won't affect the pressure reading at all.

Big cloud of smoke behind me as I gave it a bit of welly, pulled over smoke coming out from front, lifted hood, oil everywhere, bloody sump front seal popped out, FFS is it ever gonna end? Kiwi, you done me some favours
Cant be fkd with it anymore, i'll burn the cnting thing.

Stick with it Carl, the gasket is frustrating but small beer compared to all the other issues you have overcome......Did it run strong with good oil before the smoke appeared.
Dig deep and soldier on, chap; shout if you need a hand.

Yeah I know Pete, just having a rant to let off some steam. Yes it ran well prior to going on the blob.
Am still in the game for the 440. What we looking at Pete?

is it the one piece gasket carl with the steel inserts,i have one on mine , they are a bugger,put mine in dry with no sealant ,just a smidge in the corners

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think they do a 1 piece pan gasket for the 340, they do fir the 360, would make life easier if they did.
